A few catalysts could send shares of Netflix and Yahoo higher, Mark Mahaney of RBC Capital Markets said Thursday on CNBC.
On "Fast Money," Mahaney revealed his top three sector picks: Google, Priceline.com and Netflix.
A noted Netflix bull, Mahaney said that the video streaming service could grow its user base substantially, especially with 200 million mobile devices being shipped domestically.
"It's a service that's cheap," he said. "I think the end base is 80-100 million households that could sign up for Netflix."
For the current year, Mahaney said that he believed Netflix could reach 5 million new subscriptions.
On Google, Mahaney said that the stock's valuation was reasonable, around 15 times next year's earnings.
The company's exposure to mobile is no longer seen as a negative, he added.
"People are less concerned now about this mobile bear thesis. People realize that smartphones and tablets are good for a name like Google," he said. "We like the stock up to $950."
Also, Mahaney said that Yahoo could see upward movement in its stock on the possibility of an IPO in China's Alibaba, in which the company holds a stake.
Domestically, a "fundamental turnaround" was possible for the internet giant under CEO Marisa Mayer, but Mahaney said that to get it growing again would take at least another couple of years.
To play the stock on the Asia catalyst, it could be worth a look in the near-term, but for a target in the high $20 range, he added, "You've got to wait two years."
