A judge says he'll announce Dec. 3 whether Detroit is eligible to get rid of its debts in bankruptcy court.

Judge Steven Rhodes issued a brief order Monday, saying he'll announce a decision at 9 a.m. at the federal courthouse. The decision will determine whether Detroit can fix its finances under Chapter 9 in the largest public bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Rhodes presided over a nine-day trial that ended Nov. 8.
