Shoppers, beware: Time is running out for online

You'd better hurry up.

A slew of bad weather and a shortened shopping season have caused consumers to change their plans this Christmas, shifting much of their last-minute spending to the Web. But with shipping deadlines looming, time is running out to ensure that gifts ordered online are delivered in time for Christmas.

According to a new study by the National Retail Federation, nearly half of holiday shoppers said they plan to do the remainder of their holiday shopping online—the highest percentage in the survey's 11-year history.

The results accompany a holiday shopping season that has so far been dominated by the digital space, much to the expense of traffic at physical stores. According to ShopperTrak, Saturday's foot traffic dropped more than 25 percent compared to the previous year, in part dampened by the weekend's winter storm.

"It comes as no surprise that Americans are eager to shop online in the coming weeks as busy schedules and a shift in the calendar have made the convenience offered by retailers' mobile apps and websites even more attractive this year," said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay.

Savvy retailers are playing into the trend by extending their free shipping options ahead of the holiday rush. Amazon on Monday announced that its Prime members can order gifts until midnight on Dec. 22 and still receive free delivery before Christmas.

But with most stores' standard shipping deadlines lurking, it's time for procrastinators to stop, well, procrastinating. Below is a list of retailers' standard delivery cutoff dates for receiving online purchases by Christmas.
