College basketball fans will have to wait to see which team prevails in the Final Four this weekend. Food retailers, however, are already confident they'll win thanks to the big NCAA tournament.
Undoubtedly, March Madness is a busy time for many restaurants and food delivery companies. Last year, restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings sold 80 million wings during the college tourney, CEO Sally Smith told CNBC on Tuesday.
"You have to have wings. We'd love for you to have wings at a Buffalo Wild Wings, but we do a huge amount of carryout during this time of the year, as well as Super Bowl," said Smith on "Squawk Box."
Domino's Pizza is also readying for the uptick that comes with the tourney, CEO Patrick Doyle told "Squawk on the Street." Last year, the pizza delivery company sold roughly 1.7 million pies during the Final Four.
"I think we'll at least be there this year," said Doyle. "It's a pretty high interest tournament."
Asked about competition from rivals Papa John's and Yum Brands' Pizza Hut, Doyle said he expects a busy weekend for all pizza makers, but added, "I like our odds of coming out on top of this one."
NCAA March Madness culminates this weekend at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Flordia Gators, Connecticut Huskies, Wisconsin Badgers and Kentucky Wildcats made the Final Four, with the first game between the Huskies and Gators on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. EDT. The winners play for the championship on Monday night.
