Where America's minority entrepreneurs are

There's a disparate number of minority entrepreneurs across states, according to a report published this month by the Small Business Administration.

Florida leads the way, with just one minority-owned business for every 11 minority residents, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.

Iowa's ratio, at one minority-owned business for every 43 residents, is the nation's lowest, according to SBA data.

Of course, there are nuances in the data. The mix of ethnicities that comprise each state's minority population are potential factors in the business ownership rate. Another variable is the state's overall economy.
