A former grocery store chain president has asked his family company to reinstate employees who were fired for protesting his termination.
Arthur T. Demoulas was fired from grocer Market Basket nearly a month ago, inspiring backlash from employees, customers and public officials, The Boston Globe reported. Some employees who led protests against the chain lost their jobs.

In Demoulas' first public statement since leaving the company, he asked its new management not to punish the employees who supported him.
"Their fierce loyalty to the company and its customers has always been deeply valued," Demoulas said.
Market Basket, which has 71 stores and $4.6 billion in annual revenue, has left customers "finding empty produce racks and seafood cabinets where they used to find bargains for their families," the Globe wrote. The company's board was slated to meet Monday evening amid more protests.
