The aviation industry and passengers alike have been spooked by the third air disaster in a week.
On Thursday, an Air Algerie flight en route from Burkina Faso to Algiers crashed in Mali, likely killing all 116 people on board, including 51 French citizens. Bad weather is suspected to play a role in bringing the plane down.
The incident comes on the heels of a TransAsia Airways crash in Taiwan on Wednesday, which killed at least 47 people while the plane was attempting to land during a thunderstorm.

And this time last week, the world was stunned by news that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, ferrying 298 people from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was believed to have been shot down by a missile in eastern Ukraine.
"With three tragedies in such quick succession, many people will, understandably, be asking questions about aviation safety," said Tony Tyler, director general and CEO of IATA.
