La-Z-Boy - Shares of the furniture producer fell after it reported fiscal first-quarter operating earnings that trailed Street estimates by a penny as costs related to new store openings weighed.
Hertz - Shares of the rental car firm plunged as much as 13 percent after it forecast full-year 2014 earnings to be well below the low end of its previously announced guidance, citing operational challenges, including record level vehicle recall activity. Industry competitor Avis also fell after the bell.
Apple - Shares of the tech behemoth turned lower in extended trading after closing above $100 for the first time since its stock split.
PetSmart - Shares continued to edge higher on an earlier report that it was exploring a potential sale of the company, Reuters said, citing sources close to the matter. An announcement could come as early as next week.
Achillion Pharmaceuticals - The biopharmaceutical company's stock rallied in after-hours trading on reports that it had received a U.S. patent for its ACH-3102 drug, which is currently being investigated for to treat chronic Hepatitis C infections.
