A day after his new book was published, Rep. Paul Ryan told CNBC on Wednesday the e-book price fight between his publisher Hachette and Amazon is "very frustrating."

He said it's hard to buy his book "The Way Forward" on the e-commerce giant's site.

"I wished this dispute got settled. Clearly Amazon is making a kind of power play here, in my opinion," the House Budget Committee chairman said on "Squawk Box."

As far as whether Congress should step in, the Wisconsin Republican said he's going to "hold from making comments." But he did point out that readers can go to Barnes & Noble or other places that sell books and buy his "easily at a discount."
