The emerging field of big data analytics can play an important part for couples looking to have a baby or avoid pregnancy, said Silicon Valley pioneer Max Levchin, co-founder of PayPal and currently chairman at Yelp.
Levchin's new venture is an app called Glow, which aims to help women track their monthly cycles and pinpoint peak ovulation times.
"It uses your own data that you submit yourself," he explained on "Squawk Box," plus data from users' connected health devices such as pedometers and Wi-Fi scales. The goal, he added, is to "build a personalized model of your fertility window, and then narrowing the fertility window down to a couple of hours."
The Glow app was launched a year ago this month. The company also branched out in July with a new app, Glow Nurture, which provides insights tailored to the nine months of pregnancy.
