Fed won't propose changes to the debit card interchange fee

The Federal Reserve does not plan to propose revisions to the debit card interchange fee standard, it announced Thursday.

The decision follows a biannual report on debit card costs and fraud losses from the Fed—a report mandated by Dodd-Frank.

Total debit card transactions grew 6.8 percent between 2012 and 2013 while transactions where a card was not present rose 18.1 percent.
