Nike earnings, FOMC speakers in focus on Wall Street

U.S. stock-index futures posted modest losses on Thursday, ahead of earnings from Nike and more speeches from members of the Federal Reserve.

Stock futures remained lower after the government reported orders for durable goods fell 18.2 percent in August, and that 293,000 Americans filed for jobless benefits last week.

Nike will posts earnings for its first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year after stock markets close, alongside Thor Industries.

Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart, who will be a voting member of the FOMC next year, will give a keynote speech on Thursday at a conference on enterprise in Mississippi.

Also on Thursday there will be the Kansas Fed manufacturing survey and a seven-year Treasury auction.

On Wednesday, U.S. stocks rallied, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq halting a three-day losing run, after an upbeat report on new-home sales and monetary stimulus hopes in Europe.
