Apple's newest products, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3, are now available at some stores.

Apple told CNBC that it has released its new tablets in some Apple Stores in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Australia and Europe.

The iPads will also be available in China, but only in the wi-fi compatible model, not the cellular version.

The iPad Air 2 starts at $499, and the newest iPad Mini starts at $399.

When Apple reported earnings earlier this week, it indicated that sales for its iPad products were sliding.

First reviews of the products have varied, with many praising the tablets, but saying that they did not represent a major leap from predecessors.
