Elon Musk is worried about the artificial intelligence of the future. No, not the anthropomorphic automatons of a fictional 2035, but the Internet-based AIs of the very near future.
The CEO for both Tesla Motors and SpaceX (and chairman of SolarCity) has expressed his concerns about artificial intelligence before, but in a comment on the site Edge, he suggested a timeline.

"The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five year timeframe. 10 years at most," he wrote, adding that "Please note that I am normally super pro technology, and have never raised this issue until recent months. This is not a case of crying wolf about something I don't understand."
But after submitting these comments, Musk soon deleted the post, according to a user on Reddit.
The discussion on Edge—a group blog where contributors are vetted—is entitled "The Myth of AI" and, as of Monday afternoon, does not make any mention of the missing Musk post.
A Musk spokesperson told Re/code that the comments were authentic, but explained they were sent to Edge founder John Brockman over email and not intended for publication. "Elon will write a longer blog post on the topic later," the spokesperson told Re/code.
