The Belarussian central bank said on Friday it would impose a 30 percent duty on all purchases of foreign currency by companies and citizens due to a currency crisis in Russia, Belarus's main trading partner.
The bank said it had "adopted a number of measures aimed at preventing the development of negative trends on the currency and financial markets of Belarus," including requiring firms to sell 50 percent of their foreign currency income on the domestic market, up from the previous 30 percent.
