Early Movers: AMC, American Apparel, Staples & more

Check out which companies are making headlines before the bell Monday:

AMC Networks - The cable-television operator rose, as did Time Warner, after Pacific Crest Securities initiated coverage of both with an outperform rating.

American Apparel - The retailer jumped in premarket trade after saying it will evaluate a proposal to take over the company for $1.30 to $1.40 a share.

Cubist Pharmaceuticals - The drug developer climbed in premarket trading after the company said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had approved its antibiotic for treating urinary-tract and abdominal infections.


Finish Line - The retailer fell in premarket trading after Canaccord Genuity downgraded its shares to hold from buy.

Gilead Sciences - The drugmaker fell after Express Scripts Holdings, which oversees prescriptions for insurers, said it would make AbbVie's hepatitis C drug accessible for those with the most common form of the disease, and exclude Gilead's treatment for most patients in the new year.

Staples - The office-supply retailer declined after saying 1.16 million payment credits could have been impacted by data breaches from July into September.

TerraForm Power - The solar power said it would hike its quarterly dividend payment 20 percent.
