A world famous restaurant endured a less than merry Christmas.
The French Laundry lost more than $300,000 of wine from its collection after a Christmas Day break-in, the Los Angeles Times reported. Seventy-six bottles were taken from the San Francisco Bay area eatery, which is considered one of the best in the world.
The restaurant says thieves entered through a wine cellar door, which was splintered after the incident. The rare and collectible bottles missing from the cellar would collectively top $300,000 at retail price, according to estimates from the cost of similar bottles on Wine-Searcher, the LA Times said.

Some bottles of Domaine de la Romanée Conti wine picked from the cellar range from $11,000 to $15,000 per bottle at retail price, the LA Times wrote.
