Ride-sharing company Uber will set a price cap in New York City during the next two days as travelers and public officials prepared for the blizzard, the company wrote in an email to customers.
"Anytime a disaster or state of emergency strikes, dynamic pricing is capped," Uber wrote in a post.

Fares will top out at 2.8 times the normal rate under a policy developed with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Uber said in the statement. The company warned rides may take longer than usual and destinations in the city may be limited by road conditions.
The city has declared a state of emergency and modified public transportation schedules in preparation for the storm, the brunt of which was expected to hit on Monday evening into Tuesday.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced in a press conference that New York City subways would run on limited service after about 7 p.m. ET on Monday and the PATH train would follow a weekend schedule after 9 p.m. ET on Monday.
