It's been about six weeks since crowdfunding platform Indiegogo launched a service that allows users to raise money for worthy causes, and already it's raised millions, Indiegogo CEO Slava Rubin told CNBC Monday.

Called Indiegogo Life, it raises money for things such as emergencies and medical expenses and does not charge a fee.

Rubin told "Squawk Alley" that he's particularly excited about the Humans of New York campaign, which brings sixth-graders from Brooklyn on a tour of Harvard "to show them what it's like to get into a great university."

After two weeks, Humans of New York has accumulated more than $1 million on donations and has met with President Barack Obama.
