After-hours buzz: Vivint, H&R Block, Encana & more

H&R Block - The tax preparation provider of 13 cents per share, narrower than the 17 cents per share Wall Street had expected, but revenue missed forecasts. Shares rose modestly after the announcement, before turning lower.

Vivint Solar - The alternative energy provider beat analysts' forecasts for a fourth-quarter loss of 37 cents a share by a penny, while revenue came in at $6.86 million, versus expectations of $6 million. The stock rose more than 5 percent in after-hours trading.

Encana - The Canada-based energy producer announced a $1 billion common stock offering, sending the stock down some 3 percent in extended trading.

Johnson & Johnson - Shares rose slightly on a report that the pharmaceuticals maker was close to acquiring cancer drugmaker Pharmacyclics, in a deal that values the company at a premium. Pharmacyclics shares rose more than 2 percent after the report surfaced.

General Dynamics - Shares edged higher after the aerospace and defense firm announced that it would increase its quarterly dividend by 11 percent to 69 cents a share.
