TripAdvisor has released its seventh annual Travelers' Choice awards, which ranks the world's top destinations. Heading the list this year? Marrakech, Morocco.
The website describes the winning destination as "a magical place, brimming with markets, gardens, palaces and mosques." Marrakech replaced last year's winner, Istanbul, knocking it to third place. Siem Reap, Cambodia, came in second. While no U.S. destinations made the top 10, New York City comes in at No. 11.

The annual ranking is based on reviews, rankings and opinions gathered from TripAdvisor travelers. An algorithm determines the top 25 global destinations by looking at hotel and restaurant ratings as well as the quality and quantity of reviews surrounding each destination.
