German luxury sports car maker Porsche has said that "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker was responsible for his own death in a high-speed crash in November 2013, according to media news website Gawker.
In a reply to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Walker's teenage daughter, Meadow, Porsche claimed that the actor's "death, and all other injuries or damages claimed, were the result of [his] own comparative fault."
The actor died in November 2013 when a Porsche Carrera GT, which is capable of reaching speeds of up to 205 miles per hour, driven by his friend Roger Rodas spun out of control on a city street near Los Angeles and burst into flames after hitting a power pole. At the time police said high speed rather than mechanical defects were responsible for the crash.
Walker's daughter is claiming in her suit that the carmaker failed to install necessary safety features in the car.
In its response, Porsche alleges that Walker "knowingly and voluntarily assumed all risk, perils and danger in respect to the use of the subject Carrera CT, that the perils, risk and dangers were open and obvious to him, and that he chose to conduct himself in a manner so as to expose himself to such perils, dangers and risks."
