O’Brien’s first season on ‘The Tonight Show’ began in June 2009. Previously he was host of ‘Late Night with Conan O'Brien’, which was a must-see for innovative comedy, Hollywood stars and premiere musical guests. Considered by many to be a "variety" show, ‘The Tonight Show with’ features a nightly monologue, celebrity and news-maker guests, as well as ongoing comedy segments. The result is a unique and humorous look at today’s pop culture.
Many of the world's most popular celebrities, musical guests and newsworthy names make "The Tonight Show" a priority stop on their publicity rounds. In addition, the program has proven to be a barometer of political clout. In 2000, the Los Angeles Times noted that "the road to the White House apparently leads through Burbank," as presidential candidates appeared on the show to demonstrate their good-humored side during the presidential elections.
In addition to star-power, the ‘Tonight Show’ production team searches for the most interesting "civilian" guests such as kid inventors and individuals with quirky talents and funny stories.
"The Tonight Show" has received numerous Emmy Awards and continues to be television's late night leader.
