Contest Stocks--Earnings Once Again "Earn" Respect

Here's our latest contest stock report. Once again, earnings--good and bad--are playing apart in what's making you "money" or not. If you had Amazon, you saw the good, while owners of Travelzoo saw the bad--and ugly, from earnings. Also, there's a new name on the most active list--as a results of earnings--Sun Microsystems. Here ya go with the details:

Best performing trades by % gain from Tuesday's close to Wednesday's close:
Xenoport : If you bought on Tuesday at $28.86 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $41.56, the contestant gained 44.01% on the trade. Up on news that its drug for restless leg syndrome (RLS) met its goal in its first pivotal-stage study.
Amazon : If you bought on Tuesday at $44.75 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $56.81, the contestant gained 26.95% on the trade. Up on strong earnings.
Riverbed Technology : If you bought on Tuesday at $28.28 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $34.70, the contestant gained 22.70% on the trade. Up on strong earnings tripling revenue and an upgrade by WR Hambrecht.
K2 : If you bought on Tuesday at $12.58 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $15.10, the contestant gained 20.03% on the trade. Up on acquisition news that Jarden Corp (JAH) would acquire the maker of K2 skis and Rawlings baseballs for $765M.
Asset Acceptance Capital : If you bought on Tuesday at $16.14 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $18.77, the contestant gained 16.30% on the trade. Up on news of a recapitalization plan consisting of a one-time dividend and share repurchase, and an upgrade by Bear Stearns.

Hutchinson Technology : If you bought on Tuesday at $22.11 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $19.11, the contestant lost 13.57% on the trade--on weak earnings and analyst downgrades.
Silicon Storage : If you bought on Tuesday at $4.88 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $4.26, the contestant lost 12.71% on the trade--on weak earnings and analyst downgrades.
Sun Microsystems : If you bought on Tuesday at $5.94 and held/sold on Tuesday with a close of $5.27, the contestant lost 11.78% on the trade--on weak earnings that missed expectations and fears that the company's turnaround was slowing.
