The firm said in a statement Wednesday night that the Memphis guard will be represented by former NBA all-star B.J. Armstrong, vice president of basketball for WMG and WMG's principal Arn Tellem.

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play in the NBA and compete with the greatest basketball players in the world,” said Rose, in the statement. “With B.J. Armstrong and Arn Tellem, I am confident that I have chosen the best representation to help guide me throughout my professional career both on and off the court.”

Said Armstrong: “It is a privilege and honor for WMG to represent Derrick. We look forward to working alongside him throughout what we expect to be a lengthy and accomplished NBA career.”

Wasserman Media Group beat out Creative Artists Agency for the representation of Rose. CAA was thought to be the frontrunner all along due to the fact that Rose was connected with William Wesley. Wesley was tied to Leon Rose (no relation), who represents players for CAA. Before Sunday night, it was all but assumed that Rose was a slam dunk on CAA's client roster.

If Wesley was indeed heavily steering Derrick Rose to Leon Rose (CAA) whatever guarantees, services, packages, experience WMG offered clearly must have trumped that.
