How does a five-star fund manager approach investing when uncertainty is high?
"Our strategy is to think about capturing income, whether it be dividends from common stocks, or yield from bonds... and then think about the opportunity for capital appreciation over the long term," Franklin Income Fund's Edward Perks told CNBC.
So what are the top five holdings in Perks's portfolio, and why?
"Canadian Oil Sands has been a tremendous performer, really driven by the oil-price performance the last several years," he said. "Others, like Pfizer, have been a little bit tougher, a little bit more of a long-term value play, with the creation of new drugs there over time."
Also at the top of Perks's portfolio are AT&T, Intel and Dominion Resources.
