BEHIND THE MONEY: Wen Jiabao Gets MVP of This Market Comeback

Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford took MVP honors last night in the MLB All Star game and China's Premier Wen Jiabao gets MVP honors for this explosive market rally today.

Why him?

Virtually every positive story for the U.S. market today can be linked back to his country and his stimulus plan.

The majority of Intel's revenue (55%) came from the Asia-Pacific region, with the CEO saying last night on the conference call that the China stimulus was increasing demand, as consumers there snap up laptops and netbooks.

Commodities are rocking after news that China foreign-exchange reserves rose to more than $2 trillion as investors pumped money into the country. China will diversify some of these reserves into strategic resources like metals, says FM trader Tim Seymour. Watch for China's industrial production and GDP figures out tonight to show increasing demand for the world's resources.

Wall Street is getting on board with the China story too, with the market getting the most upgrades from strategists, according to Birinyi Associates. China is now the most-liked country for investment on the Street, according to Birinyi.

If you're looking for a way to win with Wen, Seymour warns that the iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF may not be the best way to play the China story. After a 34 percent run this year, the index is starting to get a little toppy and may be weighed down by underperforming members such as PetroChina and Sinopec. The trader says the best way to ride the China wave without the risk is Nokia, which is likely to cite strong Asia demand in its earnings report tomorrow.
