Burned By Morgan Stanley, Pulte & More

They looked like hot stocks. So how are the trader playing Morgan Stanley, Pulte and more now that they’ve been burned?

On November 11^th the Negotiator thought he’d be laughing all the way to the bank with a long position in Raymond James.

”Raymond James hit a 52 week high today and I think it will continue to move north, he said. “North, yeah. That means higher.”

Somebody get Adami a compass! Since he said to get long shares have tumbled almost 10% -- that's south! So what does he have to say about this stock now?

Bad timing by me, he tells the desk, but I still like the stock.

Karen Finerman

On November 11^th the Chairwoman suggested looking at homebuilders – at least some were on solid foundation. “I like Pulte Homes,” she said. "If you want to play housing, this is the way to do it.”

As it turns out, Finerman’s housing trade was rickety at best. Since she said to go long, shares are down 11%. So what does she have to say about this stock now?

If you want to play the turnaround I'd stay with it, she counsels.

Pete Najarian

On October 16^th the Pit Boss thought he spotted opportunity in the financials. “Morgan Stanley is all about limited risk,” he said. It's not Goldman from a risk perspective. Morgan has far less risk to the downside and with a new CEO, I think Morgan Stanley is going to do well.

Maybe it is going to do well, but it sure hasn’t yet. Since Najarian said to get long shares have taken a sharp tumble. So, what does he have to say about this stock, now?

I still like it, he reveals. 2010 should be a good year for Morgan Stanley.

Joe Terranova

On October 19^th the Liquidator thought eBay looked like a hot deal. “If you look at the gross merchandizing volume,” he said, “you can see double digits there. eBay, might just be an opportunity.”

As it turned out, Terranova wished he’d never placed this bid. Since he hit buy everybody else hit sell and shares have yet to recover. So, what does he have to say about eBay now?

$22.86 is the 50-day moving average, he says. That's your out.
