The Case For Being Bullish

Despite weakness in Europe as well as China’s decision to slam the brakes on growth, one top strategist tells the desk, “I’m bullish.”

Jason Trennert of Strategas Research wants you to turn that frown upside down and trust that good times are right around the corner.

What? That sounds like a big leap of faith?!

It might not be quite as much of a leap as it first sounds.

Here’s why Trennert is bullish:
Companies are cash-rich and will spend on M&A, dividends
*40% of stimulus will be spent this year
*No retail participation in stock market

What’s the trade?

Baker Hughes is my top pick because of their exposure to China but I think there are a lot of opportunities in energy as well as tech, says Trennert. And companies with a lot of cash of the sidelines such as KLA-Tencor should do very well, he adds.
