Are Dems Against Nat-Gas Drilling?

Despite a veritable US natural-gas rush, Cramer said Tuesday, many Democrats and environmental groups are pushing to make it more difficult and expensive to drill in the States. Why? Because they're worried about a process called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, that’s used in the unconventional shale plays like the Marcellus.
In fact, just last week the Environmental Protection Agency announced that it started an investigation into the effects of fracking on ground and surface water supplies. The problem, though, is that there hasn’t been a single documented case of groundwater contamination caused by hydraulic fracturing, Cramer said. Now he's concerned that this could be the beginning of a process that creates more regulatory hurdles for natural-gas companies.
But Cramer wanted to hear the other side of the argument. So he invited Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a Democrat from New York to the show. Hinchey has been been a vocal proponent of studying the effects of fracking on the environment, and he introduced a bill to subject hydraulic fracturing to the Safe Drinking Water Act.
