What? Never heard of American Tower?

They're among a handful of companies that provide the transmission infrastructure for smartphones, cell phones, other wireless devices as well as broadcast TV and more.

As of December 31, 2009, American Tower owned or operated approximately 20,000 towers in the United States and approximately 7,000 towers in Mexico, Brazil and India.

Considering their services are so closely tied to an industry that’s poised to explode you’d think a long position in American Tower would attract investors by the hoards.

But that’s not the case. Shares are down about 4% since the beginning of the year.
