Tuesday night the annual Gracie Awards were handed out in Beverly Hills, as the American Women in Radio & Television recognized outstanding programming on television and radio by women and about women.

CNBC's Suze Ormanreceived the Tribute Award, "bestowed upon an individual who truly plays a key role in laying the foundation for future generations of women in the media."

Congrats, Suze!

Also receiving an award, Jessica Simpson.

Jessica Simpson? Award-winning female role model?

Simpson is the producer of "Jessica Simpson's The Price of Beauty" on VH1, which looks at how women around the world define beauty, and how hard they work to achieve it. Simpson won the Dove Real Beauty Award at the Gracies, "to honor an individual who best embodies and expresses the 'substance and spirit' of real beauty through her life and career."

While CNBC was there to videotape Orman's award, we also caught up with Simpson, who always makes for very watchable TV.

Here is what she had to say about being at the Gracies, winning this award, whom she brought as her date, and what she thinks women need to know.
