Following are moves you might have missed. Find out why shares of Solar Fun and Brookdale Senior Living popped while Vulcan Materials and Atlas Air Worldwide dropped.
POPS (stocks that jumped higher)
Solar Fun (SOLF) popped 6%. A South Korea company agreed to buy a significant stake in the company for $370 million in a move widely considered a bullish bet on China’s alternative energy sector. - I think solar plays continue to be a lot of fun, says Tim Seymour.
Brookdale Senior Living (BKD) popped 6%. The operator of senior living facilities reported a quarterly loss that had narrowed more than expected. - I wouldn't get involved, says Karen Finerman.
The Pantry (PTRY) popped 7%. Earnings showed the convenience store was back in the black due to higher sales. - I'd stay away from the stock, says Steve Grasso.
DROPS (stocks that slid lower)
Vulcan Materials (VMC) dropped 9%. Although analysts were expecting a profit of $0.24/ share the company reported a loss mainly due to a hefty legal settlement charge. - I would not buy here, explains Brian Kelly.
Atlas Air Worldwide dropped (AAWW) 15%. The company cautioned that business generated from contracts with the military would decline now that the U.S. buildup in Afghanistan is complete and a reduction has begun in Iraq. - I don't like it, counsels Anthony Scaramucci.
