The Indictment On December 11th, 2008, Bernard Madoff is indicted on 11 counts including fraud, conspiracy and other charges related to one of the largest Ponzi schemes in American history. FBI agents went to Madoff’s house to quote, "find out if there’s an innocent explanation." To which Madoff replied, "There is no innocent explanation."

The Sentence On June 29th, 2009, Judge Denny Chin hands Bernard Madoff the maximum sentence: 150 years in prison. At the trial he speaks to his victims and says quote, "I apologize to my victims. I am sorry. I know that doesn’t help you."
