Economy Has Stabilized: Viacom CEO

The economy has stabilized, which is why Viacom has grown "almost month by month” over the last four quarters, its president and CEO, Philippe Dauman, told CNBC Monday.

“There are signs that the recovery will accelerate as we go forward,” said Dauman.

He added that the scatter market continues to be strong and that Viacom is receiving advertising from the automobile, toys, games and movies, “which is a good category for us.”

What is new for Viacom is advertising from the financial services industry, such as American Express . AMEX appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards show on MTV and others, said Dauman, and other financial companies are also reaching out to the media company’s young demographic, ages 12 to 34. MTV is owned by Viacom.
