A long position in solar stocks looked like a hot trade, but all it did was burn Tim Seymour. So what does he think of the trade now?
Seymour made the fateful call on February 17th as a bet rising oil would renew interest in alternative energy.
“I mean JA Solar is about to announce record earnings," he said at the time. "And Trina Solar is trading at only 7 or 8 times. These are both good stocks.”
Unfortunately, even good stocks do bad things. Since he said to go long shares of JA Solar slipped 18 percent while Trina Solar shed 12 percent.
