New York Knicks fans endured seven seasons of pain as the team missed out on the NBA playoffs.
Now Knicks fans wanting to scratch that playoff itch might be feeling pained as they reach into their wallets to pay the highest average secondary ticket prices in the NBA.
According to Stubhub, Knicks fans are paying an average of $348 per ticket on the secondary market.
That’s double the current $152 average for all first round tickets.
Stubhub Spokesperson Joellen Ferrer says Boston v. New York is the highest in terms of both prices and volume. Game Three of the series – the first in New York – currently has an average price of $430. Ferrer says the fact that both the Knicks and the NHL’s Rangers are both in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years isn’t hurting demand for Rangers, though Knicks tickets are going for 2 times that of the Rangers.
