Stocks opened lower Friday following a weaker-than-expected second quarter GDP report and as investors cautiously waited for Bernanke's speech at a banking conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened lower after snapping a three-day rallyin the previous session.

Research In Motion
The mobile communications company was upgraded to buy from neutral at Sterne Agee.

The hotel and resort operator was downgraded to equal-weight from overweight at Morgan Stanley, citing a weak macro environment.

VMware
The virtualization software developer was upgraded to outperform from sector perform at Pacific Crest with a price target of $100.

First Solar
The solar technology company was upgraded to buy from neutral at Collins Stewart based on large project approvals.

Aruba Networks
The telecom equipment corporation was upgraded to market perform from underperform at BMO Capital based on revenue growth.

Noble Corporation
The offshore drilling contractor was upgraded to buy from neutral at Guggenheim with a $44 price target.
