Gold Rush Series Hits the Mother Lode: The GLD Vault

Our Gold Rush series continues Wednesday with the mother lode: A look inside the gold vault of the SPDR Gold Trust, the largest exchange traded fundin the world, backed by gold in a secret location in London. The largest private gold reserve in the world—more than 1,200 metric tons worth more than $70 billion. Almost no one outside the World Gold Council has ever seen all the gold...until now.

One interview not to miss on CNBC TV at 11:40 a.m. ET: Private gold vaulting...if you're investing in gold, should you consider it? Savneet Singh is CEO of Gold Bullion International, a company that allows private investors like you to store gold bullion in different locations around the world.

With heavy hitters such as General Wesley Clark, Richard Gephardt, and Arthur Levitt on the Advisory Board, this company and its main idea—that physical ownership of gold by small retail investors will become more popular (and more feasible) in the coming years—is definitely worth checking out.

Here's today lineup for the Gold Rush series, all Eastern Time:

10:30 a.m.: Show me the gold—the gold vault of the SPDR Gold Trust .

11:40 a.m.: Live w/ Savneet Singh, CEO of Gold Bullion International at the New York Stock Exchange.
