Green Tech Builds Small Biz

Green technology is helping small businesses get on track.

CNBC Reporter Jane Wells visits Axion International, a small business in New Jersey that is making railroad ties from recycled plastic.

In her report for "People, Planet, Profit" series, she finds that the company's product, called Ecotracks, are slowly rolling out into the market, replacing worn out wooden and concrete ties, which will last up to eight times longer than the old-type ties.

Axion has already placed 200,000 ties throughout the world, along the way keeping trees in the forests and plastic containers out of landfills.
