Music is coming! Game of Thrones is going on tour
"Game of Thrones" fans may have a long winter to wait until the next season hits small screens, but for U.S. fans of the show, there is a surprise in store.
Live Nation, HBO and the series composer Ramin Djawadi are joining forces to deliver a "live concert experience" in North America, using the music from the award-winning Game of Thrones series, the entertainment companies announced on Monday.
As part of the experience, fans will be able to enjoy music from the show played by a live orchestra, choir and musical soloists, as part of "an immersive music and visual experience that will bring the Seven Kingdoms to life."
To recreate George R.R. Martin's fantasy realms, the show is set to incorporate state-of-the-art technology and footage from the show along with the live music.
A 360-degree stage design, LED screens and new imagery created exclusively for the tour are also reportedly planned for each performance.
The event will feature work by the show's composer, Ramin Djawadi who is known for composing Game of Thrones' "Main title" theme song, along with other incidental music from the fantasy epic.
The live concert experience is expected to hit the road from February 2017, stopping off in 28 cities across North America, including venues in Chicago, New York, Washington, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Toronto.
"The Game of Thrones Concert Experience will be unique in the history of concert tours, an eye-popping, ear-splitting, phantasmagoric blend of the show's visuals and Ramin's powerful compositions," David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, creators and executive producers of the HBO show, said in a statement.
The news is expected to lift the moods of many U.S. fans, after the cable network confirmed late July that the fantasy epic would conclude its television run with its eighth and final season.
Season 7 is expected to air in 2017 and have only seven episodes compared to the standard 10, however it is yet to be confirmed how many episodes the final season will have.
The first leg of its 28-city tour is expected to take place on February 15, 2017 in Missouri's Kansas City, and tickets for the event will go on sale this Saturday, August 13.
