Greater China markets struggled for gains as Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 1.63 percent in afternoon trade. The erased earlier losses of more than 2.5 percent to close fractionally higher at 2,603.8. The Shenzhen composite declined 0.34 percent to close at 1,292.80.
