Note on methodology and sourcing: The top five franchises data for each state is based on total unit count and was aggregated by FRANdata, sourced directly from the most recent franchise disclosure document (FDD) of franchise corporations. Unit counts may have changed since the most recent FDD and could vary from ranking position at press time. The franchise units included are limited to those owned by independent entrepreneurs and investors. Franchisor company-owned units were excluded.
