From lawyer to firefighter: 36-year-old is turning her side hustle into a career

Nico Smith left her job as a family lawyer in February 2020 and relocated to her parents' home in Middletown, CA. From there, she launched her own law firm. But a few months later, she embarked on a new career when a lightning strike started a small fire at the property. The local fire department arrived and Smith met Captain Josh Jones, who helped her join the force.
