Turner Broadcasting announced on Friday that it settled on a short-term extension with satellite-TV provider Dish Network that will temporary restore service of several dropped channels.
In October, Turner, a unit of Time Warner, pulled a group of its channels from Dish after the two companies were unable to resolve a dispute on carriage fees before their distribution contract deadline passed. But the companies have "mutually decided" to bring back CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV, TCM, HLN, CNN en Espanol and Boomerang for Dish customers for several months while the companies continue to negotiate a longer-term carriage agreement.

There will also be an extension for TBS and TNT service on Dish, which means the two channels will continue to air past the Dec. 5 contract deadline.

Due to similar carriage price disagreements with Comcast, Dish may also drop Comcast's regional sports programming from its channel lineup in several cities.
