Companies have used April Fools' Day as a chance to pull pranks for decades—all the way back to the 1960s when the BBC famously pretended to broadcast scents into living room televisions.

Not much has changed. Companies are still unleashing gags left and right to celebrate April 1.

Google on Tuesday released a prank that turns Google Maps into Pac-Maps, a version of the popular Pac-Man game laid out on real-life maps. Users can play Pac-Man on their neighborhood streets, eating cherries and dodging ghosts.

Japan's Burger King restaurants joined in with a whopper. The fast-food chain claimed it has released a unisex fragrance called "flame-grilled," selling for one day only at Japanese branches.
