Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic high-fantasy novels no longer need to trek to New Zealand for a taste of the hobbit life.
Nestled in a small parish in Suffolk, England, "glamping" company West Stow Pods wants to be the first to develop a Middle-Earth inspired hobbit "hole" in the U.K., but they need a little help on their adventure.
Spearheaded by owner Jan Lenguel, the company launched a Kickstarter project to crowdfund £50,000 ($78,116) to build a replica halfling house on their private woodland dell.

The project has received more than $11,000 in funding since its launch on July 17th, though only 23 people have signed up so far for a one-night stay.
Backers who pledge at least £80 ($125) will earn one night in the completed hobbit hole, while donors who dish out more than £700 ($1,094) will receive a five-night stay.
With the help of heritage consultant Alan Baxter, a member of the Tolkien Society, West Stow Pods will construct a two-bedroom, one bath, hobbit home with a kitchen, living room and dining room. The company intends to ensure authenticity by building on references from Tolkien's novel and original drawings.
"One of the key aspects of this unique project is that we keep it as authentic as we can to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien and "Lord of the Rings"," Baxter said in the company's Kickstarter video.
West Stow Pods and the Saul Zaentz Company, which holds the licensing rights to Lord of the Rings, did not immediately return requests for comment.
