    NEW YORK— Amphenol, a company that makes fiber optic cables and related devices, plans to conduct a two-for-one stock split in October. Owners of Amphenol stock on Oct. 2 will get one additional share for each share they own. Shares of Amphenol Corp. have gained 28 percent over the last year.

    WALLINGFORD, Conn.-- Amphenol, which makes fiber optic cables, said Wednesday that its third-quarter net income climbed 10 percent, driven by strength across a variety of markets. For the three months ended Sept. 30, Amphenol earned $147.5 million, or 90 cents per share. Amphenol Corp. shares climbed $1.43, or 2.4 percent, to $61.60.
