London, 15 December 2008 - CNBC, the leading financial and business TV channel, is launching a new business and money series for the UK, starting on 12th January 2009.

The 12 week series, called Strictly Money will be an hour long programme, airing each business day (11am - 12 noon UK time).

Hosted by Ross Westgate, the channel believes that the show will become essential viewing for anyone who is serious about understanding the current environment for business, the economy and how to build and protect their assets and investments.

Barbara Stelzner, VP, News & Programming at CNBC says:  “This show will be ‘strictly’ about money!  It will be one of the most relevant programmes on TV in the UK as we go in to 2009.

“Our audience is traditionally made up of CEOs, business and opinion leaders, as well as City professionals.  This programme will certainly address their needs, as well as those of the small business owner and anyone who has an interest in the UK economy or looking after their personal financial future in a tough economic environment.

“Whether its pension funds, investments, savings, property, mortgages, insurance or the latest economic news from the Treasury, everyone needs to get ahead of events.  This show will be a daily diet of advice and discussion that the viewer can actively use to make informed decisions.  With a range of experts, the show will give the inside track on managing financial affairs.”

Features within the programme will include:

  • Equity watch: Investment advice and problem solving from a panel of experts
  • Your Money, your vote: Latest from the Treasury and how is affects business
  • Business Mentor: Small business owners discuss problems with business experts
  • UK CEO Call: Interviews with leading CEOs making the news
  • A daily review of the markets and the world of commerce
  • Additionally, every Friday, what everyone needs to know in the business of sport.

Stelzner concluded:  “This will be a fast paced and informative show.  We are about imparting accurate, actionable and unbiased information about the very real issues facing our economy at this time.”

This is the first time CNBC has produced a business programme for the UK audience.  Earlier this year, it applied for and received an Ofcom licence to broadcast to the UK alongside its pan-European broadcast service.

In the UK CNBC is available on all major pay-TV platforms – Sky (channel 505), Virgin (613) and Homechoice (510).
