The New York Yankees didn't want to have to go back to New York for a Game 6, but by virtue of them losing to the Phillies last night, they'll be guaranteed about $1.8 million.

One baseball source told CNBC that Games 5, 6 and 7 of the World Series are each worth about $1.8 million per team, after revenue sharing. The source said that Games 1-4 are worth significantly less because Major League Baseball takes a chunk.

While $1.8 million per game seems nice, both the Yankees and the Phillies would, of course, see greater incremental revenue by winning it all.
